Chandelier Crystal Replacement Measurement Guide

Replacing a crystal on your chandelier requires accurate measurements. Follow this guide to identify the right prism, drop, or bobeche before ordering. When in doubt, contact our support team with your measurements and photos.

Golden Rule: Measure the Prism Only

Always measure the crystal prism itself — do not include the top bead, cap, or hook in your measurement. This is the industry standard for Asfour crystals and all chandelier replacement parts. Measuring the full hanging length (including hardware) is the most common sizing mistake.

Step 1 — Measure Prism Length

Remove one crystal from the chandelier and lay it flat on a ruler or measuring tape.
Measure from the top of the drilled hole to the lowest tip of the crystal body.
Do not include any metal pin, eye pin, wire, bead, or bail.
Record in millimeters (mm) for precision. Common lengths: 38 mm, 50 mm, 63 mm, 76 mm, 100 mm.

Step 2 — Measure Prism Width

Measure the widest point across the crystal body.
For pendeloque (teardrop) shapes, this is typically the widest middle section.
For drop shapes, measure the broadest shoulder or belly.
Record in millimeters.

Step 3 — Count the Holes

1 hole (top only): Standard hanging prism — connects via a single pin or wire at the top.
2 holes (top and bottom): Used in strands or chains; a connector passes through both holes.
Note whether the hole is centered or offset, as this affects the hang angle.

Step 4 — Identify the Pin or Connector Type

Match the existing hardware on your chandelier:

Eye pin / headpin: A straight wire with a loop at one end; the most common type.
Jump ring: A small open or closed ring threaded through the hole.
Octagon pin / strass pin: A decorative metal cap that sits over the top hole.
Wire-wrapped: Bare wire looped directly through the crystal hole.

If you are unsure of the pin style, include a close-up photo of the connection point when contacting support.

Step 5 — Note the Finish

Asfour crystals are available in several finishes. Mix-matching finishes on a chandelier is visible. Check your existing crystals under light:

Clear (Classic): Colorless, maximum brilliance — the most common.
Golden Teak / Amber: Warm honey tone.
Rose / Pink: Soft blush tint.
Silver Shade: Cool grey-blue iridescence.
Strass (full lead crystal): Asfour 30% lead crystal — look for the "Asfour" laser-etched mark.

Step 6 — Identify the Shape

Pendeloque: Elongated teardrop with faceted sides — classic chandelier prism shape.
Pear / Almond Drop: Rounder, fuller teardrop body.
Octagons / Rosettes: Flat, multi-sided beads used in chandelier chains.
Bobeche: The round drip cup at the base of a candle arm; has perimeter holes for hanging crystals.

Photo Checklist

Before ordering or contacting support, take the following photos:

☐ Close-up of the hole(s) at top (and bottom if applicable)
☐ Close-up of the existing pin or connector hardware
☐ Crystal held up to natural light to show color and finish
